Sustainability was previously not considered during wet-lab product design. Recently, companies are beginning to re-design their products with reduced packaging and more sustainable sources without compromising their performance.

What can we do?

• Borrow to test instead of buying new vials.

• Check the second hand equipment market (LMU Fundgrube)

• Check the ACT label for environmental impacts of the products.

• Some examples of sustainable alternatives:

• QIAwave RNA mini kit (Qiagen)

• Bio-based conical tubes (Eppendorf)

• Bottle-top filter without collectors (Merck)
